Our Favorite H-E-B Convenience Foods

If you live in Austin or really any major city in Texas, chances are an H-E-B isn’t far away. We had one open less than five minutes from our house recently, and the convenience has been a game changer. It’s where I buy most of our groceries, and over time I’ve discovered several convenience food items that have become true staples in our kitchen.

In wellness culture, convenience foods often get a bad reputation. But in real life, they can be incredibly supportive. They expand access to a wider variety of foods, save a ton of time, and reduce the mental load of figuring out how to prep meals for yourself or your family. I hope you can give yourself permission to lean on some of these food options that make fueling yourself and taking care of your body a little bit easier!

Here are a few of my favorite options for veggie, protein, and carb sources that you can add to your meal time rotation!

  • Pre-Chopped Broccoli: I love the flexibility of this option. Enjoy it raw with ranch or hummus, steam it in the bag, or toss it in the air fryer at 400 degrees for about five minutes with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  • Pre-Seasoned Brussel Sprouts: These save so much prep work, all you need to do is bake at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. No chopping, seasoning, or dirty dishes required!

  • Salad Kit: H-E-B offers a wide variety of salad kits, making it easy to match whatever flavors you are in the mood for. Each kit comes with toppings and dressing included!

  • Frozen Chicken Nuggets: These are a dinner staple in my house, I love to pair them with air fryer broccoli and frozen fries for a complete meal.

  • Frozen Turkey Meatballs: These are a great option to pack in your lunch with your favorite dipping sauce or to add to spaghetti.

  • Fully Cooked Shredded Chicken: One of my go-to lunches is mixing this chicken into the Taylor Farms Mexican Street Corn Chopped Salad and enjoying it with a side of chips. It is flavorful, filling, and comes together in minutes.

  • Frozen Potatoes: These heat up in the microwave in less than 10 minutes and come perfectly seasoned, making them an easy addition to any meal.

  • Goodles Cheddy Mac: Goodles are a great option if you have picky little ones who struggle with meat or veggies, because it has added protein and fiber. I combine this with ground beef or tuna and pair with a veggie for a simple weeknight dinner.

  • Ben’s Original Ready Rice: This is an easy way to round out a meal when you need a quick carbohydrate option.

We hope these ideas spark some meal planning creativity and make your next grocery shopping trip a bit easier. If you are interested in learning more about how to feed yourself or your family, go to the link below to schedule a session. We would love to be a resource for you!
