Eating Disorder Resources for Caregivers
Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions, and for parents and caregivers, the journey toward recovery can feel overwhelming and frightening. Finding the right resources to guide and support your child isn’t always easy. At ATX Nutritional Counseling, we are passionate about walking alongside parents and caregivers as they navigate the process of recovery, offering education and support in sessions to help them feel more confident in supporting their loved one. To further empower families, we also recommend trusted resources beyond our sessions. Below are 5 books that provide valuable insight, ranging from fostering intuitive eating in kids to better understanding the inner dialogue and thought processes of an eating disorder.
• When Your Teen Has an Eating Disorder: Practical Strategies to Help Your Teen Recover from Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge Eating by Lauren Muhlheim, PsyD
• Sick Enough by Jennifer Gaudiani MD, CEDS, FAED
• 8 Keys to Recovery: Effective Strategies from Therapeutic Practice and Personal Experience by Carolyn Costin and Gwen Schubert Grabb
• Life without ED by Jenni Schaefer
